The Make Up Tag!

Last year I saw this tag over on Gill McLaughlin's Blog so I book marked it to do at some point and here it is, I am finally doing the "MAKE UP TAG"

At the moment I am using Revlon Color Stay

I use Collection Lasting Perfection on blemishes and No7 Instant Radiance under eye concealer

I like the look of false lashes but I don't wear them

I am currently using a Rimmel mascara but I do like to mix it up

We don't have a Sephora in the UK so on that basis I am going to have to say MAC although I would love to go to a Sephora store one day

Real Techniques brushes, cotton buds for under the eye/removing mascara from my lid.

DO YOU USE AN EYESHADOW PRIMER?All the time, I am currently using an Urban Decay Primer

Oh I can't even choose to be honest I love so many, generally speaking I will just say the Naked 3 palette- I'm obsessed with it

I have tried a couple drug store versions and I have liked them but I would like to try out some of the MAC pigments at some point

This is hard, oh any Red really as long as it is a blue toned red so it compliments my pale skin
Either English Rose Mosaic by MUA or Rose Gold by Sleek
I own mostly drugstore make up, I only have a few high end items
Not blending foundation properly
I used to prefer colourful looks but neutrals are a lot easier to wear- especially for work and if you are in a rush, but when I have the time or if I wake up in the middle of the night I do like to play around and create vibrant looks
Eyeliner, my eyes don't suit that "no eyeliner but mascara" look so I would prefer to use eyeliner and "colour" in my lashes a bit to darken them up
Urban Decay and Makeup Revolution

Thank you for reading, if you decide to do this tag then leave a link in the comments below and I will check it out :)

16 things I have learnt in my 20s

I recently turned 26 and that is taking some getting used to- I didn't even feel like I had hit 25 and now I am even closer to 30 years old- that's pretty scary.

So I thought I would share a few things that I have learnt in my 20s

  1. You are NEVER too old to need your mum, seriously you will end up needing her for something
  2. Not everyone else your age is settled down with kids don't worry.
  3. You don't HAVE to have a career planned out from 5 years old because by the time you are 20 you most likely want to do something else.
  4. It's ok if you don't want to go out partying every weekend, sometimes it's nicer to stay in
  5. Cheesy 80s disco music will always be great
  6. You are never too old for Disney movies
  7. If you feel like you are in a toxic friendship/relationship then do not feel bad about taking them out of your life.
  8. Distance and the length of time knowing someone doesn't matter when it comes to real friends.
  9. If your favourite band from your childhood do a tour and play a show near you- GO TO IT, you will appreciate it so much more when you are older.
  10. If you have a lot of people to buy for in your family at Christmas (if you celebrate it) try doing a Secret Santa instead- you save money but you can also get the recipient something a little more expensive than you normally would- it's a win/win
  11. Always have a pen on you, you never know when you or someone else will need it.
  12. The thrill of drinking does wear off, so even if you used to drink copious amounts when you were younger, it's probably not the same now.
  13. You are never too old for colouring books- believe it or not they are quite therapeutic
  14.  You're not the only person who doesn't know what they are doing with their life. That person next to you on the bus/tube might be just as confused with what they want to do as you are.
  15. Budget and look for bargains, with a lot of jobs now you are classed as "full time" if you work over 16 hours a week, but given that minimum wage is currently £6.50 and the cost of living is more than you earn, if you want nice things you need to learn how to budget and look around for bargains, get points cards as the points add up to be spent in store, don't ignore sales, they might be stressful but you can get some amazing deals and sometimes you can find some great potential presents to store away.
  16. It's ok to like a wide range of music, you don't have to stick to just one genre.
I could add so many more to this list but I thought I would leave it here.
If you have any that you would add then please do leave them in the comments below.

Thank you for reading.

Goals for 2015

At the beginning of the month I uploaded the "Goodbye 2014, Hello 2015" post and I touched on a few of my "resolutions" we are now almost 2 weeks into the new year so I have managed to think of actual goals to achieve this year instead of having a few vague ideas.

I think by now most people have given up on the whole "resolution" thing- I mean how many people actually stick to them? not many I can guess.

So like many other people I have seen on the internet I am going to see this as more of a bucket list/goals/to do list for the year as then I think I have more of a chance of sticking to it.

  1. Make more time for my friends and family.
  2. Post at least 1 blog post and 1 youtube video a week
  3. Get a passport!
  4. Travel more- whether it is in the same country or another country.
  5. Do my driving lessons and get through my test
  6. Get a new job- I like my job but it's not enough hours to have a proper life at 26 years old
  7. Start working out again
  8. Eat healthier- I don't exactly eat a lot of crap, but sometimes I don't eat enough and even though I know I shouldn't I find it easier to grab a pack of crisps- usually "low calorie" ones if that makes it any better- it really doesn't does it?
  9. Get my bedroom fully decorated.
  10. Have another wardrobe clear-out; I do have these every 6 months or so but I think I might do them more regular.
  11. Read more books- I used to read a lot and just recently I have stopped reading so many books, so I will target myself to 2 a month in the hopes that I end up reading more.
  12. Network more- as I am wanting to take this Blog and my youtube more serious, I do need to start networking and getting myself "known"
I think that's it for now, a list of 12 is good to be going on with for now, and then for every goal that I reach then I can add more to my list.

What are your goals for 2015 if you have them?

Health and Fitness in 2015

Last year I did a post about wanting to do monthly posts about my health and fitness, obviously as we can see that didn't happen.

Unfortunately I had my house flooded in August and we only just completed the repairs and renovation the week before Christmas, you might wonder why that would affect my health and fitness, well for one the downstairs resembled a building site, in all honesty it wasn't really inhabitable so I had lost the use of the living room to work out in.
Then on top of that I honestly didn't have the time to go to the gym, sorting out the downstairs took up so much time I was pretty shocked to be honest, I didn't think it would be so extensive, and this was just the planning of what we needed doing.
I don't want to get too much into it- I would be here for hours and it would get boring, so my health suffered as well, as it is I have asthma anyway, because of the dust and debris from downstairs, even just passing through the kitchen affected my breathing so I knew there was no way I would be able to do a proper work out session at the gym without keeling over unable to breathe properly.

As we have finished the renovations I am now able to start using the living room to work out so that will be commencing ASAP, I am thinking of asking one of my friends if she would like to join the gym with me so we could go on a weekend as I know she is wanting to lose weight as well.

I will be honest I have managed to maintain my weight which is good, but I was starting to feel really good about myself as I could feel and see myself toning up and now I have noticed that while my weight is still what it was, I am lacking the definition that I was starting to get.

I'm not sure how often I will post updates on this topic but I will most likely do them every couple months, I am wanting to get back into shape- I have noticed I have been feeling very lethargic recently and it does not sit well with me.

So back on the healthy eating and juices/smoothies and back to working out :)

Here's to a healthier 2015

Thank you for reading this long ramble

10 "problems" people with pale skin may have

I am quite fair skinned, now this doesn't bother me #palebuthappy, but what does bother me is some of the comments I receive, and the fact that high street make up brands still haven't realised that some people are very fair skinned- now I know this also applies to those at the other end of the colour spectrum, *sigh* I live in hope that one day this will change and they will cater for everyone.

So I thought I would compile a list of comments and "problems" I have found being the skin colour I am, I'm sure other people may be able to relate to some of them.

1. "Ivory" foundation is still quite often very orange toned, especially when it comes to high street/drugstore brands.
2. "natural" colour tights are also too tanned looking, not great when the rest of your body is white
3. The "why are you so pale?" question. Did we not watch "Mean Girls?" no but seriously, I'm pale because that's the way I am.
4. The "have you ever heard of fake tan?" question, Yes I have but I quite like being pale.
5. "Well it looks ok, but it would look better if you had a tan, so maybe you should just wear trousers or tights if you honestly want to wear a skirt" ok I admit having a tan does sometimes make your legs look "nicer" but I'm not going to go out and buy fake tan just for the sake of it.
6. It's often hard to find a good nude lipstick without it completely washing you out- It is because of this that I actually feel more comfortable wearing a bright red as opposed to a neutral colour.
7. For a decent colour matched foundation you are looking more towards the high end brands as they have a wider variety of colours.
8. Summer- need I say more, I mean we either burn to a crisp or we have to lather on the Factor 50+
9. "Can I see how tanned I am compared to you?", it's funny once or twice but when it's after every single holiday it's pretty tiresome.
10. "Didn't you just go on Holiday? did you stay indoors all the time?"

Now I love being fair skinned, sure it has a few downfalls but I have found that aside from Yellow I can still wear a lot of colours- and get away with quite a few hair colours, I haven't tried green though, I have a feeling that could make me look slightly ill.

For reference I would be about NC10/NC15 in MAC foundations.

If you are also fair skinned what "problems" have you come across?

Real Techniques: Bold Metal Collection, are they too expensive?

So I'm sure by now everybody has heard about the new addition to the Real Techniques make-up brushes.

I am going to state that I don't have any of the brushes so this is not a review, this is just my opinion on the pricing.

The Bold Metal Collection consists of 7 brushes- Sam & Nic have actually uploaded a video on YouTube showing and explaining the brushes with a quick price overview.

Now when I first saw the "teaser" pictures on Instagram I saw comment after comment stating that they were expensive in comparison to the rest of the line, personally I was starting to expect around £40 a brush so when I saw them on the Boots website I was pleasantly suprised, yes they are more expensive than the original collection, but really they aren't THAT much more expensive, the least expensive is £10.00 and the most expensive is £25.00, yet in the standard line (without counting the sets) the most expensive is £13.99.
I can imagine that a set of them might set you back quite a bit so you would have to see it as an investment so I can see where Sam & Nic are coming from when they say they are mainly targeted towards Make-up Artists.

Will I be buying any of the collection? now I'm not a make-up artist so do I really need them? no probably not, but do I want them? yes, definitely, I love the Real Techniques brushes that I already own, so even if I treat myself to one a month then that is something I would happily do.

The Bold Metal Collection is exclusive to Ulta in the USA and Boots in the UK

Do you think the new collection is over priced or do you think they would be worth it?

Goodbye 2014 Hello 2015

Ok I'm on the internet a LOT, whether that is on facebook, twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, etc, but I have seen a lot of people all saying they want to make 2015 "Their Year" now don't get me wrong, I think this is great, something has made a lot of people suddenly think "Eff you I will do what I want to!" did "Frozen" actually have an impact on that many people? Come on you can't deny it, while "Let It Go" might be one of the most over played songs of recent years it also has a fairly decent message behind it, it is a nice way of saying "Eff you, this is me, deal with it" (yes in person I do swear, but for the the purposes of this blog I shan't)

So we move on from 2014 which for me personally had many ups and downs, and on to a hopefully brighter 2015.
While I'm still no closer to actually knowing for definite what I want to do with my life in the long run I know that I do want to get a better job than I have (20 hours just isn't enough when you are almost 26)  I know that I want to make more of an effort with my Blog and my Youtube Channel, I would like them to grow, but in order for that to happen I need to put the work in.

The romantic in me would love to find a significant other but I would like that to happen naturally, although it would be nice to have someone, it's just not the be all and end all right now.
I want to start up my driving lessons so I can drive down to London/anywhere really instead of relying on coaches and trains.

I want to make more time for my family and friends, especially those who have always been there for me, I sometimes feel like I don't appreciate them enough, now I don't expect us to turn into The Waltons, but they have supported me and while I do like my alone time I know I can make time to spend a day with them.

I have finally gone to my Doctors about a pain in my head I have had for a while, now I have suffered with migraines since I was 13/14 and it was always put down to my "time of the month" but for the past few months I have had a constant pain in my head- there used to be a time in my life where I would just ignore it and rely on painkillers to get me through the day, but yesterday I reached the point where I knew I had to try and get something done about it, so I went back to the doctors and he prescribed me with something that over time should decrease the migraines and hopefully stop the pain.
I know some people are against the use of medication but I thought I had to try something, they might not work, it could be something more serious but at least I have now made the steps to trying to sort it out, only time will tell.

Do I think 2015 will be perfect? no, because life isn't, but it is what you make of it, as they say Shit does happen, but you deal with it and move on.

So I hope you all had a fantastic end to 2014, personally I stayed in, filmed 3 videos that need editing and uploading soon, I was awake to see the new year in but it was a quiet night for me.

Heres to a brilliant 2015, what are your plans for the year ahead?

Thank you for reading.
